What Are Your Feet Wishing for This Holiday Season?

You’re probably making your gift list and checking it twice to ensure you have a thoughtful gift for everyone special. After all, who’s helping you do all this holiday running around?! At Pasco Hernando Foot & Ankle, we want to know if you’ve remembered two very important and deserving recipients—your feet! Below are a few items you would likely find on your feet’s wish list if they made one:

New Walking Shoes—walking is a great way to keep your feet (and the rest of your body) healthy, but not if you’re wearing shoes past their prime. Walking shoes and sneakers have a lifespan of about 300-500 miles. After that, internal components begin to break down, and cushioning gets compacted. Visible signs of wear and finding that your feet feel sore after wearing a pair of previously comfortable shoes, are sure signs it’s time to trade them in.

Foot Massage—okay, a foot massage feels amazing, but it also offers some health benefits. Massage improves circulation and helps feet stay flexible. You might consider a professional foot massage or one of the many foot massaging machines on the market so you can treat your feet whenever you wish.

Hot/Cold Socks—if you suffer from inflammation in your feet and our podiatrist, Dr. Lawrence J. Kales, has recommended icing or applying heat for the relief, you may want to get a pair of special socks that can do both. Look for socks that can go in the freezer or the microwave to provide comfortable inflammation reduction on demand.

Nighttime Moisture Treatment—keep feet supple and prevent itchy, dry skin with an ultra-rich, super-emollient moisturizer with a pleasant scent. Add a pair of soft, absorbent socks to put on after you apply. You’ll wake up to soft and smooth feet every morning.

Podiatric Checkup—a good way to be proactive in the health of your feet is by having an annual checkup with the foot doctor. If you have a chronic condition that affects your feet, such as diabetes or heel spurs, the podiatrist may want to see you more regularly. To make an appointment, contact our Hudson office by calling 727-868-2128 or 352-683-5799.
